What is a True Psychic?

I hear the word Psychic being used a great deal in our present culture. This phrase is being used in a largely mistaken way to mean individuals with siddhis, Sanskrit for psychic powers, or special abilities, like the ability to commune with the deceased or disembodied beings, telepathy, clairvoyance, clairaudience, psychometry or a host of other special powers.

Let’s look at the origins of the words psychic and psyche. Psyche or soul is the root expression from which the meaning of all gifts of human being spring forth into expression. When we understand them together, Psyche and Psychic gifts or powers, we’ll form a clearer understanding of what true human abilities are.

The words Psyche has it’s origins in the Greek word “saiki”, meaning soul, breath and give life to. The Greeks conceived the notion that there was a soul, a source of all consciousness and life beyond the physical body. The soul is the bridge between spirit and the material world in which our personalities function. All true expressions of the human soul or psyche are true “psychic powers.” These psychic powers are primarily divine qualities of the human soul; meaning virtues or enlightened qualities, which include:
compassion,
kindness,
courage,
daring,
determination,
wisdom,
discrimination,
insight,
purity of heart,
devotion,
sense of unity with all life,
cooperation,
joy and,
hundreds of other noble virtues.

There are seven distinct groupings of divine qualities of the human soul. More on that portion of the discussion will be addressed in a forthcoming article.

All true character development is psychic development. And, every authentic expression of the human soul is a psychic power. Virtues are keys to the Angelic Kingdom as well because angels love to serve those who have beautiful spiritual temperaments. Every virtue attracts one of the seven groups of angels. Angels love the color, fragrance and sounds of the vibration of your pure aura when you express your soulful qualities. Your true psychic gifts are like radiant colored bulbs on a Christmas trees. They shine in a glorious way attracting all good things to you while nourishing those in your company.

Everyone has the opportunity to bring into expression their better Self, or spiritual gifts through free will. Take each day deliberately, choosing to express your psychic powers or virtues towards others. Share your compassion, kindness, joy, enthusiasm, serenity or whatever strengths you possess.

Many masters teach that there are 1,000 distinct human virtues that can be cultivated by the soulful human being. When you are presented with daily challenges which test your character, such as, someone cutting you off in traffic, or a person being grouchy with you on the telephone, bring forth patience or kindness towards them. These moments are tests which can either invoke negative qualities such as anger, judgment and impatience, qualities born of egotism and self-clinging, or these tests can invoke our conscious expression of a virtue.

As you develop virtues you are mastering the personality through the dominance of the soul qualities. You become noble through the expression of true psychic powers or virtues of the soul. Each opportunity to express kindness, compassion, generosity, patience, joy and hundreds of other good qualities is a blessing because it allows you to exercise the soul muscles of will power and loving-kindness. These moments allow you to flex the muscles of the soul in order to manifest your goodness, and strengths.

The true psychic is one who lives as a soul. As Christ said, “to live in the world not of the world.” One meaning I take from His wisdom is that you and I can demonstrate mastery of the daily life through awakening true psychic powers; virtues. All positive qualities are psychic powers. Some of these divine qualities open up pathways for connection to the unseen worlds which are commonly thought of as psychic abilities.

What about clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience and claircognisance, psychometry, telepathy and so on? Aren’t these gifts of the spirit too? Actually, these abilities are by products of a purified heart and mind living as an expression of our divine heritage. When your life is overflowing with love, compassion, kindness, wisdom and joy, then you naturally become sensitive to the inner life. Angels bless the person who blesses those he or she comes into contact with. Becoming an expression of Source, God, Higher Power or Enlightened Mind makes us a channel through which that energy flows. Virtues awaken streams of blessings from deep within and connect us to Spirit, to God.

If you want to blossom into a soul, a true psychic, then take each opportunity to express whatever positive qualities you can in each and every moment. Decide to live in love, kindness, compassion, generosity and wisdom. By doing so, the Angelic Kingdom will bless you with their company. Angels will guide you to become a better listener to the inner voice. That inner voice is the source of all your education as a soul. The inner voice, if is it from a blessed source, is the voice of your Guardian Angel, guiding you to become a mature soul, a true psychic.
