Four Rules of Thumb For Successful Spiritual Living
I am asked for spiritual advise on many topics from the thousands of readers who visit my websites. It would be good to help them all but this is not possible without a real relationship with which to understand their personalities, motives for practice and history.
I can only offer generalized advise to most. There is one topic which needs to be addressed in the current marketplace of increasing books on meditation, spiritual practices, yoga methods and chanting. Additionally, many are reading books of questionable value which eventually cause confusion because the student doesn’t know who to trust.
The first rule of thumb is to study with only one teacher for at least 5-10 years or more. At first you might be shopping around like buying a car or house. This is normal, healthy and appropriate. Once you own the house, don’t keep shopping around. This sends a message to your soul, the Universe and God you are confused about what you need.
Find a spiritual teacher you trust, then stick with that spiritual teacher for long enough to experience accomplishments worthy of taking with you throughout life.
Second rule of thumb is to find a teacher who focuses on cultivating positive qualities, or virtues rather than developing psychic powers.
Why is this the case?
So called psychic powers don’t last beyond one lifetime.
Additionally, mediumship and psychic powers often get you into sticky ego based, show off situations. You might start telling people, “I am an intuitive.” “I can channel masters and spirits…” Or, the worst of all, “I can talk to the dead for you, putting you in touch with departed loved ones.” These are all ego traps, and increase human suffering in general. Let the loved ones enjoy the time after leaving the physical life. Don’t call them back to this plane of existence!
Psychic powers do not last. Virtues you take with you after passing from this world as though they were diamonds, rubies, gold and silver of the treasure chest of the soul. Virtues are the treasure of the unfolding human soul. Powers are superficial, lasting only a lifetime at best. Virtues are eternal, bringing health, happiness and long life.
I received this note recently from a fellow who is reading all kinds of psychic materials and following questionable spiritual practices encountered in books, CD’s or DVD’s:
“I see many spirits while meditating with my eyes closed but…while doing deeper meditating. While I was reading and learning more…a black cat appeared on my chair in front of me. I thought is was a shadow and looked away. Then it came closer and I saw its yellow eyes. It startled me so I looked away again, when it was right in front of the third time it really startled me. I have no idea what it means? Do you?”
Third rule of thumb is do not engage spiritual practices out of curiosity or to be able to impress yourself with how “advanced spiritually” you are. Remember that insects and most animals, including dogs and cats, can see etheric energy fields or some even lower, dark astral layers of life. This doesn’t mean they are advanced spiritually. Your senses will open when the Solar Angel, aka, Guardian Angel sees your ready to experience more. God wants you to unfold naturally. Can you imagine pulling on your 6 month old’s limbs to make them grow faster? People would think you were crazy. You psyche knows exactly how fast to grow, what to reveal and not reveal to you.
Many spiritual unhealthy practices can lead to conditions similar to mental illness, i.e., hearing voices, seeing the deceased, smelling the lower strata of the astral plane like the man who wrote me about seeing a black cat after he was meditating. These harmful spiritual practices open you up to all kinds of chaos, confusion and suffering.
Fourth rule of thumb is to remember and live this truth: There is no psychic power greater than love, kindness and compassion.
Practice loving-kindness, compassion, being joyful and serene. These states of heart-mind are far more helpful and “spiritual” than all the practices mentioned in some of the materials offered on the internet, in book stores or in local classes. Cultivation of unconditional love will transform your entire life if engaged with a pure heart.
As Mother Teresa said, “Where there is love, there is God.” I would add, where there is loving-kindness, God will reveal all psychic powers needed to serve others. Psychic powers are simply the natural growth of the soul.

Dangers of Gossip and Idle Speech
Every spiritual tradition, every spiritual teacher and all religious traditions issue warnings about the dangers of idle speech. This runs contrary to casual society and norms which most of us function within. Gossip is the harmful use of speech which weakens the aura, drains precious energy from the immune system while increasing the tendency for negativity in the mind.
There has been a tremendous amount written about bullying in the press over the past several years. Idle speech is the path to undermining the well-being of another person. There is power in your speech to either build up others, and yourself or to destroy the welfare of others. Negative words are a form of affirmation of hatred, anger, jealousy and critical thinking within yourself. If you criticize another person you are weakening yourself as well. This trend leads to a deterioration of ourselves over time.
Positive speech is an expression of loving-kindness whereas negative speech releases harmful chemical messages into the blood, breath and organs.
Master Morya puts it this way…
“Love each other; beware of disunion.
We must pay dearly for our light-mindedness and prattle.”- Master Morya.
There are very real consequences for idle, gossip or negative speech. So what are the alternatives?
Affirm your own value and that of others with words of kindness, joy, encouragement and compassion. A wise bit of insight is 1,000′s of times more powerful than attacks on someone else. If you want love, give love. If you want joy, give joy. If you wish for understand be supportive while listening to the challenges friends and family face with compassion.
Positive speech is much like mantra; it protects the mind and emotions from all forms of negative energy in the wounded aspects of your nature. To heal yourself, one of the most important tools is right speech as Lord Buddha called it.

What Language Do Angels Speak? Not English!
The Angelic Kingdom, Christ, great spiritual masters and God do not speak your many diverse ethnic languages on the higher planes of life. It is your mental intention which they understand. When you pray or meditation They know you through the strength of the thought or intensity of the vibration, the color and tones. Sound and color are universal languages which are understood by vibration, frequency and strength of the “signal.”
“People can understand each other in different languages expressed mentally. The mystery of such thought transmission remains a great manifestation of the primary energy.” – Master Morya.
Intention can be understood beyond concepts, words or outer actions. Let your mind translate the real meaning of others through the power of intuition and wisdom, which are the feminine qualities of enlightened mind.
Have you ever know a pet was waiting at your patio door to come in with them making a sound? Have you ever known something was troubling a loved one who lived in another state before hearing from them by phone? I could cite dozens of such examples like this.
Inspired living requires you to be open to your intuition as much as intellect. The lower mind translates impressions to the concrete brain while the higher mind receives pure information as sound or vibration, color and intention. This is how the non-human beings know our needs. Angels do not speak English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese or any other of the hundreds of languages. They know you through the means mentioned above.
Practice using your intuition more often to pay attention to non-physical cues. This will strengthen your intuitional link to the brain and mind.

Raleigh North Carolina Angel Casey Sasser
Monday, December 17th, 21-year-old Raleigh North Carolina angel and native, Casey Sasser, reached out in a spontaneous act of compassion and loving-kindness. She expressed a timely random act of kindness and by Paying it Forward awakened a bonfire of warmth across the nation. In just 17 hours, Casey Sasser’s random act of kindness has gone viral. Over 300,533 likes and over 3,000 and counting shares on Facebook. She has become an example of angelic kindness as well as Paying It Forward.
Casey Sasser was doing some shopping of her own at a local Raleigh Walmart during a break between her two jobs. She was in the mega-retailer Walmart to pick up some packaging tape. While Casey waited in line to pay for the packing tape behind a man with a cart full of toys, presumably for his children and family, the fellow had his credit card declined.
Ms. Sasser’s heart sank as the man started to put the toys back in his cart to return to the shelves since he couldn’t afford them. As the cashier began to ring up Casey’s purchase, she spontaneously offered to pay for what the strangers toy purchase since he couldn’t afford them.
“I knew there were children who wouldn’t have a Christmas if I didn’t help out in some way. When I looked in his eyes and saw the tears. He ended up telling me the toys were for his two little girls and how rough this year had been on him.” Sasser said.
“I can’t really explain what I felt when he hugged me but I know one thing, it was probably the best moment of my life.” Sasser wrote on Facebook.
In less than 17 hours, Casey Sasser’s random act of loving-kindness has gone viral throughout the internet. As of Wednesday, Dec 19th, at 11am, her post had over 79,000 likes and 2,000 shares which later in the day rose to 98,000 likes. That count has continued to rise rapidly since then.
“I am so touched that my story has reached out to so many people so fast. I never imagined this when I posted it.” Sasser told Clear Channel Media & Entertainment Raleigh.
The next day, Sasser’s random act of loving-kindness was unexpectedly repaid at a local gas station when a complete stranger approached her pump, paid for her gas and walked away without saying a word.
“I didn’t even get a chance to thank him. But you were much appreciated!” Sasser wrote.
The gentleman never spoke a single word, or waited for a thank you from Casey Sasser. He quickly swiped his card when her back was turned, she didn’t even see his face!
“When I realized what he had done I broke down. I knew that he was some form of a guardian angel. For him to do something for a complete stranger and not want to be recognized, overwhelmed me with emotion.” Sasser said.
Sasser says she is deeply touched by the overwhelming response she has gotten on Facebook in response to her good deed. She asks that everyone do something to help someone else, that everyone pay it forward.
“Please everyone pass the favor. If you are able, help someone in need. You could make someone’s day like they both made mine.”
The very nature of true loving-kindness is that we don’t expect gratitude, repayment or any positive karma from the act. You simply spontaneously respond to the need. Holding no expectations is the basis for Paying It Forward which is precisely what the angelic kingdom does in their acts of service. They give because it is in their nature to give as servants, care givers and beings filled with the love of God for all beings, both human and non-human. And, we give to know life as people filled with loving-kindness.

Make Time During the Holidays For Christ and Guardian Angel
Soul contact time: So many are rushing about this time of year. Create some space in your life for quiet time. Christ, Spirit and your solar angel, aka, Guardian Angel, are best engaged in quiet times when you can listen to the encouragement. Contact the representatives of you higher Self and Soul daily; it feeds the heart.
What are the best times of day to contact your Solar Angel, Christ and Inner Master?
The ideal times are between 4am-7am each morning. This is an excellent time to read uplifting messages, study from inspirational writings, meditate about what really matters and pray for guidance. There is little going on to complete for your attention during the quiet hours of the morning. Also, the energy of the Earth where you reside is in a subjectively receptive state, much like dreaming or sleep time. However, anytime you feel the need to contact your Guardian Angel or Christ, do so.
There is so much over stimulation from shopping, commercials, Christmas music and parties at this time of year. How would it benefit you to turn off the TV, the radio, music and silence your cell phone? Making time for your peace of mind is essential for happiness, health and well-being. Push back from the busy, noisy rush of modern life while allowing the flower of your soul to open to the light of wisdom, loving-kindness and serenity.

Angels Came to Honor Christ’s Birth
Sometimes a joyful reminder of the reason for the season of generosity helps us keep the focus on celebrating. We are enjoying this holiday of Christmas to remember Christ who was very generous in sharing Himself with humanity, all humanity, every race, creed, color, nationality. Christ is the embodiment of universal and unconditional loving-kindness, compassion, wisdom, healing, joy and life eternal.
Here is a quote to remind us of this momentous birth event several thousand years ago. What a great blessing each Christmas is remembering the examples of love, generosity, sharing and caring for one another with the mindfulness that the Divine Presence of God is within each of us. When we honor the divinity in one another we share the deepest love for Christ as well.
“And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” – Matthew 2:11
The angels came to honor Christ’s birth, and to help with the ushering in of a more enlightened, positive and kinder world. The shepherds and wise men were there to show both ends of the spectrum of humanity from the most humble, simple laborer to the noble and dignified earthly kings.
When you make time for the spiritual values at this sacred time of year it increases the love, compassion and pure joy of the Christmas season. Let’s all work to keep Christ in Christmas, and see the divine qualities in one another. Let’s share more love each Christmas. Love is the real present, the gifts are just the delivery system through which we say to one another, “you are precious.” Or, “you have value, and you matter.”
Christmas can build spiritual Self-esteem or just be a gluttonous shopping spree. Let’s emphasize the Self-esteem of the spiritual values more through time with friends, sharing more hugs, more smiles, more giving to those who are truly struggling to have enough to eat.

Three Benefits of Closeness with Your Guardian Angel
You were given a Solar Angel, aka, Guardian Angel to help en-lighten your heart-mind with the brightest radiance. The way is given; conquer darkness through releasing your light into all areas of life.
The Guardian Angels are also known as Solar Angels in the older texts and sacred writings of Asia. Solar refers to fire, Agni or Fiery which is the most pure, radiant and powerful level of life. Sometimes they are called Devas which means Shining Ones. Regardless of how they are described Solar Angels are here to shed Their divine light into the human mind in order to awaken the greatest possible soulful qualities.
There are three benefits of closeness with your Guardian Angel.
Solar angels have three main missions in the life of a human being. These are to direct you towards all beautiful qualities. Beauty is another name for God, the Fiery Will of God. The Solar Angels seek to encourage you to discover your purpose in life. When you are living your purpose you have determination to make everything in life support your purpose. Sometimes people in religious circles describe this as listening to the Will of God. Beauty is directly related to will, fire, purpose and living with a deep sense of responsibility.
The second is love or living with great loving-kindness towards yourself and “others.” How much can be said about this? In your deepest heart you already know what love is but often hold back. You know love is active when you are generous towards others, forgiving their weaknesses, accepting them and being supportive. Non-judgement is another sign you are living in love.
The third is sometimes the most challenging; it’s living in righteousness. Our society is constantly encouraging you to lie. You might lie to feel accepted by others when engaging in harmful, malicious, bullying, critical and attacking behaviors. But, these are acts against truth. Truth is fearless. Truthful people are not concerned with being judged by others or judging others.
When you are engaging any of these three qualities of purpose, loving-kindness and truthfulness it means you are listening to the guidance from your Solar Angel. And, when you engage in harmful, self-abusive conduct it means you are turning away from your Inner Master or Guardian Angel. They are not going to judge you but it is your decision to listen, grow and heal or fall into darkness, sickness, suffering and self-destructive ways of living.

What is The Purpose of Friendship With Angles?
What is the purpose of friendship with angels? Co-workers and helpers are needed along the path of life. Angels are precisely friends in every sense of the word, not to be worshiped as some mistakenly believe. Strength is found in the most blessed associations with human and angelic friends.
Do you seek health?
Then befriend the healing angels as you would the best physician, dietician, massage therapist or physical therapist.
Do you seek comfort?
Then look to divine angelic friends at the best source of comfort in times of need. Family and friends are excellent sources of comfort, however the angels know your deepest needs without judgement, criticism or harshness.
